Just a short while later a man was shot in the leg at an intersection and the gunman proceeded to steal the vehicle that the man was driving. The shooter then continued on to Excel Industries in Hesston where he shot a person in the parking lot before entering the building with an assault style long gun according to authorities.

The shooter had another gun but Espinoza ran before he was shot. Espinoza confirmed that the shooter was a co-worker who was typically calm and efficient.

He then began firing at the officers and a Hesston officer exchanged fire and the shooter was eventually killed by this officer.
