Last August after french citizens argued over the controversy of burkinis, a swimsuit that covers the entire body except the face, being banned in France that was taken to court. The state decided not to ban burkinis on the French Riviera.
People relaxing on their preferred beach felt that it was “a threat to public order, hygiene, water safety and morality, tantamount to a new weapon of war against the French republic”. The state court decided that it was unjustified to ban burkinis since it was not a “public order risk”.
Burkini users feel that banning the burkini is taking away their right to follow whichever religion they chose. Being an extremist in their religion is not affecting others and it is unrealistic to force them to hide their beliefs.
