The Conjuring 2: A Review

At their home in London, the Hodgson family begins to experience paranormal events mainly to the second oldest child, Janet. One night, the Hodgson family goes to a neighbor’s house to spend the night when they do not feel safe in their own home. When word goes out that these experiences are happening the news wanted an interview with Janet, and during this interview the spirit of Bill Wilkins began speaking through Janet. As he is speaking, Bill Wilkins claims that this house is his and he doesn’t want the family in it.

Paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren stay at the Hodgson’s house to investigate Janet’s behavior and the events that have been occurring. Ed and Lorraine end up meeting with two other investigators who claim that Janet’s possession is a hoax and that she is faking it. Ed and Lorraine agree with them and go back to their own home, only for Lorraine to be greeted by a vision of the same spirit that has been haunting Janet.

After this they return to the Hodgson’s from leaving them, Janet is found in a window ready to jump out, Ed grabs her and then is left dangling out of the window with both him and Janet hanging onto only a curtain. While this is happening, Lorraine speaks to the spirit and is able to get rid of it for good.

The most disturbing part of the movie is the fact that there is nothing that the Hodgsons can do about Janet being possessed. Even when they receive professional help from Ed and Lorraine it is still very difficult to remove the spirit of Bill Wilkins from Janet. Janet is a very young girl going through something that she would have never dreamt of and I can’t imagine being in her position.

The Conjuring 2 is definitely a good one for those who love the thrill and rush of being scared. This movie is full of jump scares and will get your heart racing. It has the ability to still scare those who have watched hundreds of horror films. Growing up I have never enjoyed paranormal type movies and getting scared. I would force myself to watch them and try to enjoy them and I never could, but after watching this movie my opinion has changed.
