Volvo announced that they will have the first car with no car keys that will allow other friends and family to access the car also.
These new “keys” will be downloaded onto your phone. This car without keys will be trialled this spring. Your friends and family can access the car at any time via the app. The “key” is downloaded into your phone.
According to Volvo the phone key will make renting cars easier. You don’t need to go to a certain spot to get your car keys. You can rent the car online and have the digital keys immediately downloaded to your phone. Since you have the keys, your phone directs you to the car via gps.
Now with this car people can allow others to borrow your car anytime because you get to chose who has the keys and at what time the person can use. “Instead of sitting idle in a parking lot the entire day, cars could be used more often and efficiently by whoever the owner wishes.”
This phone “key” doesn’t have people looking all over for their keys because they always know where their phones are. It also can start the car wherever you are because of the phones use with satellites.
These keyless cars are in the news for the wrong reasons. The press is not showing the positives of these new cars. People have been hacking the car keys and bypass the security and steal the car. But Volvo is working on better keys for their cars that will be harder to hack and will be put out for buying in 2017. These cars with better key security will be out but limited in stock.
You can also have things you ordered straight to your car when you buy it with your phone. You just have to put a code in when you buy the item and your item will be sent to the car.
