U.S Man Found Dead in Serbia

A Missouri man was found dead after being missing for a week. On April fourth Colin Madsen’s body was discovered about a mile from the Buryatia region in Serbia. The russian police began to claim this case as murder, but there did not seem to be any outward damage to Madsen’s body.

Madsen was traveling with three friends,two were local russians and one was a fellow american, He intended to go on an early morning hike into the Sayan mountains near the city of Irkutsk. His friends awoke late that morning to see that madsen was missing, however all his hiking equipment had still been laid out and it seemed that he had only left in a tshirt and a pair of shorts despite how cold it was outside.

A search party had been searching the area for the last week. His body was discovered, but it did not show any sign of his cause of death. A possible thought to what had happened was associated with drugs. The group Madsen had been traveling with admitted to taking narcotics the day before they were leaving for the hike.

Madsen was staying in Serbia to study at the Irkutsk LInguistics state university and had been living there since 2013. He knew the area where he had been staying and hiking very well and did in fact know fluent Russian so it seemed he had a good grasp of the culture in the area he was staying in.
