Billie Eilish is currently one of the top musicians today, and her rise to fame has been rapid. She is only 19 years old, and has been successful since a very young age.
Her first single was “Ocean Eyes,” which was first sung by her in 2015, and released on Soundcloud in 2016, when she was around 13-14 years old. She had only uploaded it late at night with the intent of having only her dance teacher listen to it, but instead she woke up to it going viral, and eventually got offers from various music labels.
Over the years, she has produced quite a few songs, some of which are viral hits today. Her strongest year was 2019; when she was 17, she released one of her most popular songs, “Bad Guy,” which reached #2 in both the US and UK Singles charts. In March of the same year, she released her debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” This broke some records as well, as this became the highest selling debut album of that year and caused her to become the youngest female solo artist to obtain a #1 album in the UK.
Her rise to fame is still strong to this day, as she won 5 Grammy Awards last year, such as “Best New Artist,” “Song of the Year,” and “Album of the Year” (which she was the youngest to win again). Her most recent single, “Happier than Ever” is one of her strongest and most emotionally moving in my opinion, since the overall tone unleashes anger and allows you as a listener to actually feel that emotion through her voice and the song’s rhythm.
Billie Eilish is rising to be one of the most revolutionary artists of this generation, and I hope to see her break more records with more of her singles!
