First Cabaret Auditions at West Huge Success

The members of the Smithtown High School West’s Thespian Troupe auditioned to be a part of the “Best of Broadway Cabaret” on October 1st in the Little Theater.

A cabaret is a show where performers take songs from musicals, or songs made specifically for cabaret, and perform them for the audience.

Many hopefuls prepared solo, duet, and group numbers from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Those who were deemed the highest in quality (of the song, the performance and other factors).

This Cabaret has taken the place of the Fall Drama, which traditionally happened every year. “We [the Thespian Troupe] have decided to expand our horizons,” stated Mr. Brannigan, the Thespian Troupe faculty advisor and director of the Cabaret. “By doing a Cabaret, we are giving students the opportunity to partake in a new aspect of musical theater that has not previously been done.”

The cabaret will be performed on Friday, November 13th at 7 PM  in the Smithtown High School West auditorium. For a full list of the songs to be performed, see below.
