Reboots Abound

After the success of TV reboots “X-Files” and “Heroes: Reborn” and the anticipation surrounding “Fuller House,” three more popular TV shows will be getting reboots.

Netflix is also the company reviving “Full House,” has recently announced that they will be rebooting “The Gilmore Girls.” However, unlike the format of “Fuller House,” the “Gilmore Girls” reboot will be four 90 minute episodes. Amy Sherman-Palladino, who created the show, will work side by side with her husband, Daniel Palladino, to write and direct the show. The couple are aiming to bring back as many former cast members as possible. There is no current release date set for the series.

A “Prison Break” reboot was announced by Fox at the 2016 Winter Press tour. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will both be reprising their roles as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows respectively. Also returning are producers Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead. Shooting for the series does not start until April, leading the show to likely be released in the 2016-2017 season.

Two children’s shows getting revived are “School of Rock” and “Duck Tales.” Granted, “School of Rock” was a movie, but Nickelodeon will be reviving the concept as a TV show with an entirely new cast (unsurprising since the original cast is all in their 20s now). Disney will be reviving their series “Duck Tales,” which follows the four relatives of Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge McDuck, and nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. Both shows, while a blast from the past, have no release date.

Other TV show reboots fans can expect soon are “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” “Star Trek” and “Celebrity Death Match.” Movies that will be getting a TV show adaptation are “Taken,” “Roots” and “Uncle Buck.”
