The Holiday season is arriving and it’s extremely stressful to buy gifts for friends and family. How will you know what type of gift to buy for each person? How will you know what everyone wants? Researchers have proven that’s its actually much less complicated than people make it and receivers actually prefer much simpler gifts than something extremely extravagant and unique.
After a series of experiments performed, Psychologists found that shoppers feel the need to buy something vigorously unique for each person, to prevent that person from receiving duplicates. But, this is the complete opposite of what most recipients want. In Fact, most people would rather receive something rather simple such as a gift card or money so they are obliged to a wide variety of options. Researcher Dr. Steffel advised, “Give them a gift of flexibility.”
Another false notion that gets buyers stressed during this time of year is the idea of re-gifting. Researchers conclude that “most people assume that someone who gave them a gift would be deeply offended if they passed it along to someone else.” But believe it or not, according to the same studies, most givers actually aren’t offended.
