Protests have constantly affected modern art in the past few weeks, from the famous sunflower painting by Van Gogh to the wax figure of King Charles at Madame Tussad’s Wax Museum. However, there seems to be no attempt in increasing security to prevent these attacks in the first place.
The protestors from the organization Just Stop Oil have had a long history of destruction. Whether it was vandalizing the Harrod, blocking main roads, or vandalizing valuable art, this organization has destroyed many priceless works due to the lack of security. Its recent attack has involved smearing cake on the face of the King Charles wax figure.
At Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, protestors smeared cake all over the wax face of King Charles, demanding the stop of oil being used. These protests have been ongoing, and people are beginning to question the security of museums. After all, how did these activists sneak an entire cake into the museum?
According to the Madame Tussauds website, bag checks are in place and only smaller bags are permitted. Also according to the website, “ No, eating and drinking are not permitted at Madame Tussauds. All guests will be asked to finish any food or beverages before entering the attraction.”
