On October 19th, the New York Rangers finally broke their 3 game losing streak. In the game, the NYR beat the San Jose Sharks 4-0. Marc Staal scored the first goal, a deflection off the opposing team’s player. Staal often creates these perfect opportunities for himself on the ice. The second goal, scored by Jesper Fast, was solid and contributed to the Rangers 2-0 lead over the Sharks.
The effort shown in this game was stronger than that of prior games. In the previous three games, the New York Rangers had lost. This game was crucial to the team and coach, Alain Vigneault, said, “I think our guys stay on the moment.” This might lead die hard fans to believe the NYR will hold on to this win and follow up.
This is a huge win for many reasons but mostly because it gets the Rangers off the streak. The offensive line was able to cash in a few goals and the defensive line was continuously stopping breakaways. One of the struggles throughout the game was being able to find the net and get the first goal, but once the NYR did that, they kept their form. The goal here was to simplify the game by making smart plays, allowing the New York Rangers to work efficiently and smoothly. This game was easily one of the best games the NYR have played all season.
