On Tuesday, October 27 a classic rock band called Break Of Reality came to Smithtown West.They are a quartet of 3 cellos and 1 percussionist. Break of Reality started at Eastman School of Music and have been together for 10 years. Their sound is a mixture of classic rock, pop, and folk music. They were all once classically trained before they started this group. According to member Ivan Trevino, “Our sound came naturally from studying classical music by day in school and going to rock clubs by night. We’ve all heard classical musicians try to arrange rock music, but they often lack the soul. It can sometimes sound like classical musicians sight reading rock charts. We’re classically trained musicians, but also understand and love the raw qualities of rock; this dichotomy is very clear in our sound.”
