What Would You Do If You Won?

While Powerball Jackpot has been around for numerous years, no one has ever seen lottery payouts such as this one. Powerball has set a new record for itself. At an estimated jackpot of 1.3 billion, it is no wonder that over $59 billion worth of tickets were sold solely in California.

On January 10, the lottery numbers were released and a total of 25 winners won a $1 million prize and three winners won a $2 million prize. The anticipation of winning this mass sum of money has been a result in selling an astronomical amount of tickets each day. In all, the revenue derived from the lottery tickets sold will more than likely add up to more than the jackpot itself.

It is extremely hard to win seeing as the odds of winning are 1 in 292.2 million. What many people don’t know is that after taxes, the winner would go home with $806 million, which is still an amazing profit, but an extreme diminution from the original reward. Despite this, Americans are still enticed to buy the $2 ticket that could make them an instant millionaire. But in reality, who can blame them?
